Waqdir li al-khaira haithu kana Thumma ardini bihi. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do no and You know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this job is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter, Then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, And then bless me in it, and if You know that this job is harmful to me in my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter, Then keep it away from me and let me be away from it.
And ordain for me whatever is good for me, And make me a satisfied with it. The Prophet peace be upon him added that then the person should name mention his need.
If any problem comes your way, the following steps should be taken to perform Istikhara: Perform 2 Rak'ah of Nafl prayer: In the first Rak'ah read Surah Al-Kafiroon In the next Rak'ah read Surah-Al-Ikhlas Perform the rest of the prayer as you would normally Read the Dua for Istikhara Many people say that the 2 Rak'ah of Nafl prayer should be read after Isha'a only because one can go to sleep directly after, and see a dream if that's meant to happen.
However, no where in the Hadith is a specific time for performing Istikhara given. In the Hadith it shows that one should perform Istikhara whenever they need to. It would be beneficial to memorize the Istikhara prayer. However, if one is unable to do so, then they can say the prayer in their own words. Basically, if you don't know the prayer, you are still able to do Istikhara, but the words of the prayer that have been taught to us by the Prophet peace be upon him would be more effective and result in more blessings.
Istikhara should be an important part of every important decision that you make in your life. For example, if something comes up, and you only have a few moments to make a decision, you can still do Istikhara because it's technically just a prayer. I do hope that this clears away any misconceptions that you had regarding Istikhara.
It is beneficial to make it a habit to recite the Istikhara prayer whenever we can. I don't think any one of us would want to make the wrong decision, leading to problems in the future.

Can I consider dis as a negative response from Allah? Um confused. Wassalam, Usually earthquakes are deemed as a calamity or a negative thing, and so I would believe this to be a negative sign from Allah. Moreover, if your heart is at unrest, that is also a sign from Allah that something isn't right, so maybe don't go forward with it.
Asslam o Alaikum! I do istakhara and saw a white snake with 1 baby white snake also saw a women in black dress and she is very happy. Kindly guide me either it is positive sign or not?? If i still do something which according to istikhara was not to be done then am i a sinner. Assalamualaikum I have pray istikharah and dream of 1 white bird came into my kitchen keep flying and searching for its baby. The other bird is small and black color who die and the white bird was very sad.

I saw this dream regarding my love. Let's say if you're praying Salat, in which you can't read the dua off a paper. As I stated above, you can always ready the Istikhara dua in your own words if you are unable to memorize it. For example: praying for Allah to guide you in making the right decision etc. However, it would be beneficial to memorize it so that you can get all the benefits of the prayer. It isn't a very long prayer to memorize, so set your mind to it and I'm sure you can get it memorized in no time!
Salaam and shukran for the being able to clarify how Istikhara should be understood and done correctly I do have a question to ask as I have made Istikhara recently, the night I made Istikhara I went straight to sleep and that same night I had 2 separate dreams, my first being a positive or good dream in the sense of recieving signs and after fajr salaah I went back to sleep only to have negative or a bad dream Does my 2nd dream have any connection to my first dream?
Should I continue making Istikhara? I'm not sure what to do as my first dreams felt like it answered my Istikhara. Wassalam, I would assume it would be based on the first dream, since it's the one from right after you prayed Istikhara and slept. I could be wrong though. I would say perform Istikhara again, and remember that dreams aren't always the answer from Allah, they could be Satan, or your own consciousness. But whatever is making your heart peaceful, is usually a sign from Allah that it is the better decision.

What I can say is that, sometimes you need to do Istikhara a few times. Second, shaytan may be directing you to make a bad decision. If your heart is at peace, and you know that your decision wont harm anyone including yourself, and that it will please Allah, then it should be the right decision. You may not always get an answer. However, if both of your hearts are content, and both of your families are happy, that in itself may be a sign from Allah that he has already helped guide you to the right decision.
